Vibrant Rajasthan - Tour to the Land of History, Legends, Hotels....
Saheliyon ki Bari is a beautiful landscaped garden on the banks of Fateh Sagar Lake in Udaipur. It was built by Maharana Sangram in the eighteenth century. Its name means the Garden of Maids and even the Garden of Friends.
The garden was designed by the King himself for the delectation of his Queen and presented to her. It was meant to be enjoyed by the Queen, her maids and companions. The garden has a charming Lotus pool, marble elephants and bird fountains. There is even a small museum housed in this complex, with a collection of various items of the royal household.
Maharana Bhopal Singh who was fond of this garden, built a pavilion of rain fountains later on. These fountains were imported from England. His concept was to form an illusion of rain dancing in step with dancing maids. On top of these fountains, there are sculpted birds spouting water from their beaks that creates the rain effect.
The fountains and pavilions here are extremely well maintained and it is a delightful place to spend an evening during your trip to Udaipur.
